We firmly believe in giving back to the community we serve, and for us, showcasing local art is the best way to do it. That’s why we regularly hold art exhibitions in our office, featuring local school and guest artists. We believe in the complete involvement of businesses in the communities they serve, as a way of giving back. Even if you don’t have any dental or orthodontic needs, we invite you to stop by and let us show you the immense talent living in the Reston area.

Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia

Sunrise Orthodontics supports Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia as they work to help local girls develop the confidence and character they need to become strong, healthy women. Girls on the Run offers a unique, curriculum-based program that creatively integrates running. The program is delivered over a 10-week season by trained volunteer coaches who serve as informal mentors. Girls on the Run is focused on inspiring girls in 3rd to 8th-grade girls to make healthy choices now, and for the rest of their lives. More than 4,500 girls participate in local Girls on the Run programming each year.

These include Reston teams hosted at:

  • Armstrong Elementary

Show What You Know Expo

As you know, the Show What You Know Expo is a voluntary school and PTA-sponsored event, open to all Lake Anne students. This event allows students to showcase their learning and knowledge in a particular subject and share it with other students and their families. The event’s primary objective is for the students to have fun learning and sharing their knowledge with others. And of course, to feel a sense of pride in a job well done! Each student who participates receives an event t-shirt and a certificate of participation.

Last year, 110 of our 644 Lake Anne students participated—nearly 20%!—and this year we’re aiming for even more! Your sponsorship will help cover the cost of the event t-shirts for each participating student. The t-shirts are always a big hit with the kids—you’ve probably seen them being worn around town, and we’re looking at a new design this year!

Your donation is tax-deductible as a contribution to Lake Anne Elementary School/LAES PTA. And, you get great recognition for Sunrise Orthodontics—your business name and logo printed on the back of 110+ t-shirts and on our Show What You Know banner and programs! Total attendance at the event is almost 500!

Oral Health Screenings at Local Schools

As part of Sunrise Orthodontics’ commitment to oral health, Dr. Calkins and her team of professionals donate their time to perform oral health screenings on-site at our local schools.

This service has an impactful value in the life of our families, since Dr. Calkins is able to diagnose on-site diverse orofacial functional anomalies along with disturbances in craniofacial growth that affect the child’s airway, face, and dentition.

Dr. Calkins will gladly screen at your school, please call our office to schedule a visit from Dr. Calkins!

Patient Experience

so what makes us different?

Admit it. You think all orthodontic offices are the same. Most are. We aren’t. We believe your experience should be something special.
