NAM DESIGN FOR LABORATORY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPRESSION, STONE MODEL, BLOCKAGE OF UNDERCUTS

• Pour impression, with care that cleft area and frenum attachments are included.
• On stone model, block undercuts of cleft area with WonderFill or wax to allow for fabrication of maxillary plate.
• Maxillary plate made in clear acrylic.
• Plate of 2mm in thickness all around
• Buccal flange in continuation with labial flange, to have continuous flange borders.

PATIENT IMPRESSION WITH MAXILLARY SEGMENTS IN APPROXIMATION NASAL STENT ADAPTED TO THE ALLPLANCE.

NASAL STENT ADAPTED TO BASE OF PLATE.

• Desired position of cleft segments after NAM (nasoalveolar molding)
• NAM with nasal extension, molded segments.

STONE MODEL SPECIFICATIONS

• Stone model with blockage of undercuts and cleft area with WonderFill or wax.
• Create maxillary plate with 2mm all-around thickness
• Continuation of labial and buccal flanges
• Release of labial and buccal frenums

PATIENT WITH APPLIANCE IN MOUTH, NASAL STENTS.

CLINICAL OBJECTIVES

• Approximation of maxillary segments
• Improve lip approximation
• Improve nasal projection
• Improve columella position, centered in the face.
